The Dalmore 12 Single Malt: The Ultimate Bottle Guide
BY DAVE MCQUILLING
Taste
The Dalmore 12 is a mild spirit with fruity flavors at the fore and a light citrus burst. Some vanilla notes in the middle ground carry a warm, sweet finish.
Dalmore is a single malt, so it only has malted barley, water, and yeast. Its flavors and characteristics come from Scottish Highland water and a multi-barrel aging process.
Dalmore 12 can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or with a splash of water in a Glencairn Scotch glass. This spirit isn’t meant to be mixed into a cocktail.
Scotch’s high cost is due to several factors, like sales and import taxes, the brand’s prestige, and the expertise, time, and space it takes to create the spirit.
Lagavulin is aged for four more years than Dalmore, so the smell and taste are different. The Lagavulin tastes smoky due to where it’s made in Scotland.
