The Cutting Board Tip For Keeping Crusty Bread Fresh
BY MICHELLE WELSCH
Cutting boards aren't only good for slicing bread. You can also keep loaves fresh for longer by placing them cut side-down on your cutting board.
Avoid slicing the whole loaf of bread, which can increase staling. Instead, cut off the pieces you need, then place the remaining loaf on a cutting board crumb-side down.
For crusty bread, this trick stops the interior of the loaf from drying while also protecting the crunchiness of the crust. The loaf can last two days without drying out.
The cutting board paired with the bread will also make for an attractive presentation for guests. If you still end up with leftover, dry bread, you can turn it into breadcrumbs.
