The Creamy Ingredient Ina Garten Always Uses For A Decadent Pesto Pasta
By KAREN HART
When Ina Garten makes pesto, she uses traditional ingredients like pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, basil, walnuts, spinach, and one creamy condiment: mayonnaise.
Mayo’s ingredients (often consisting of oil, egg yolks, vinegar, and spices) are complementary to those used to make pesto, making for a smoother, creamier taste on your tongue.
If you want to add mayo to your pesto, start with just a couple of tablespoons and see how your taste buds feel. You can swap mayo for yogurt or cream cheese if you’re not a fan.
