The Costco Olive Oil Samin Nosrat Recommends
By HOPE NGO
When determining the quality of olive oil, factors like where the olives are sourced from, the grade of the oil, and its container all play a crucial role. Pro chefs closely examine these when looking for olive oil, and Samin Nosrat, cookbook author and host of "Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat," recommends this product that you can get at Costco.
Nosrat has given two thumbs up to Costco's Kirkland Signature organic extra-virgin olive oil, calling it "really good." Costco is very clear about where their olives are sourced from, as well as where the oil is bottled, and also adheres to strict regulations as set by the European Union regarding the production and grading of olive oil.
Costco's olives come from Portugal, Tunisia, Italy, and Greece, and unlike some brands, they display the oil's best-before date, which will tell you how much time you have to enjoy the oil before its quality starts to degrade. If all this transparency doesn't sway you, we're pretty sure that the oil's rich flavor and aroma will.
