The Common Foods Queen Elizabeth Didn't Often Eat

The royal family must follow certain etiquette and rules, such as avoiding all shellfish for fear of food poisoning. Queen Elizabeth II was also specific about what she ate and how it was prepared, with the Royal Kitchen chef, Darren McGrady, learning over his more than 10 years of service about what the queen did and didn’t like.
McGrady said the queen never once requested pizza, even though Prince Philip was a big fan of the food. Queen Elizabeth II also didn’t eat fast food, but the chefs would cook up their versions of burgers that excluded buns, with McGrady saying, “They would have burgers, but not the buns. So they would eat it with their knife and fork.”
“They would shoot deer, and we would do venison burgers. There’d be gorgeous cranberry and everything stuffed into them,” added McGrady. The former palace chef noted that menus “are very traditional French” and explained that her food choice was because “the only thing you would pick up and eat with your fingers is afternoon tea.”
