Canned fruits on grocery store shelves

The Canned Fruit That Doesn't Belong In Your Shopping Cart
BY KJ Lannon
Canned bananas may seem like a nice alternative to fresh ones, but they’re quite a few reasons why you should avoid buying them when shopping at the grocery store.
Bananas ripen and go soggy very fast, and if they're canned when ripe, they're already on their way to being mushy. Plus, packing them in water or sugary syrup makes them soggier.
There's also no guarantee that they'll remain yellow post-canning. Baking with them will pose no problem, but you don't want them to look brown if they're the star of your dish.
