The Boozy Way To Use Up Leftover Halloween Candy
By KATHERINE BECK
Halloween is all about fun costumes, scary movies, and a lot of candies, with 67% of Americans planning to hand out candy in 2022 for Halloween, according to the National Retail Federation. However, there is sure to be a lot of the sweet stuff lying around after trick-or-treating is over, but now you can turn it all into something delicious for the adults.
A great way to transform leftover Halloween candy into a special adult treat is by infusing it with alcohol. Gummy bears or worms are best combined with vodka, or a tequila that has a crisp and citrus flavor, such as a blanco, and although Sour Patch Kids might seem challenging to pair with liquor, the tart candy goes wonderfully with rye whiskey.
To infuse your gummy candy with vodka or other spirits, put the candies in a 3-quart baking dish or mason jar with the spirit, and refrigerate. Chewy candies, such as Skittles, Starburst, or Laffy Taffy, will also work if you don’t have gummy candies on hand, while cinnamon candies can be put in bourbon for something a little spicier.
