The Biggest Publix Food Recalls Throughout The Years

Fruit And Grain Salad
In March 2013, Publix took to Facebook to warn customers not to use recently purchased Tri Fruit and Grain Salads due to the potential presence of listeria.
The recall impacted products sold in five states over three months. Although they were labeled Publix's brand, the products were sourced from Allison's Gourmet Kitchen.
Ground Chuck
Food recalls are sometimes issued before confirmed illnesses are linked to the products in question. Unfortunately, that didn't happen with a 2018 recall.
Over 20 days in July, 18 people fell ill after Publix sold beef — including burgers, sliders, meatballs, and meatloaf — contaminated with E. coli.
Tyson
Tyson recalled nearly 12 million pounds of chicken strips in 2019. Publix was one of several stores that was caught up in the recall.
When the recall was announced, six people had complained of finding metal in the strips, and three had claimed to have been injured.
Basil
Publix announced in 2019 that it was pulling organic basil after a cyclospora outbreak was traced to basil imported from Mexico.
At the time of the recall, more than 100 people in 10 states had fallen ill. It was so potentially dangerous that authorities were warning not to consume basil at all.
Stone Fruit
In November 2023, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the FDA issued warnings not to eat any peaches, plums, or nectarines that had come from HMC Farms.
Publix and other major grocery chains were hit by the stone fruit recall affected by listeria. The outbreak left one person dead and 10 hospitalized across seven states.
