The Big Complaint People Have About Gordon Ramsay’s NYC Fish And Chip Joint
By AUTUMN SWIERS
Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips opened its New York City location in December 2022, and though the famed celebrity chef owns over 50 restaurants and boasts multiple Michelin stars, it looks like Ramsay's fish and chips are falling flat. Negative reviews are coming in from customers and reviewers who have a common complaint.
Diners are complaining that Ramsay's fish and chips are shockingly flavorless, with Eater New York calling the restaurant's main draw “good, though mind-bogglingly bland.” A spokesperson for the eatery said that the dish is meant to be minimally seasoned, but it seems like flavors aren’t coming through at all for some eaters.
This new restaurant’s high prices also may take some blame for its lack of success, with a common criticism being that the fish and chips are overpriced. At his Times Square location, Ramsay’s three-piece cod basket runs for $17.99, twice the price of the cod basket at the popular spot A Salt & Battery in Greenwich Village.
