The Best Hair Of The Dog Cocktail May Be A Gingery UK Classic
By MICHELLE WELSCH
As fun as a night out can be, the morning after can be equally rough. Luckily, whether you have brunch scheduled, plan on spending the morning in bed, or somehow managed to wake up without a hangover, the UK-based, ginger-flavored beverage, Shaky Pete’s Ginger Brew, can put a little extra pep in your step.
Shaky Pete's Ginger Brew got its name from its creator Pete Jeary, who was known as "Shaky Pete" because he tended to get nervous during bartending competitions causing his hands to shake. The drink is made with Beefeater gin, lemon juice, and ginger syrup topped off with London Pride ale for a London take on hair of the dog.
To make the cocktail, feel free to experiment with the gin and beer you choose, but proper ginger syrup is necessary to ensure a zingy taste. You can make ginger syrup at home with equal parts ginger juice and sugar, and once finished, blend your gin, lemon juice, and ginger syrup with ice, strain into a glass, and top with ale.
