In our ranking of the best store-bought frozen hash brown brands, Ore-Ida golden hash brown patties took the top spot. They truly excel in terms of taste, texture, and convenience.
Like any frozen hash brown, Ore-Ida's patties are convenient and have a long shelf life, but their texture — a mildly crisp exterior and moist, flavorful insides — sets them apart.
Besides a golden hue, they boast visible specks of spuds. This rare frozen feature makes them "more authentic and less like repurposed mashed potatoes," per our reviewer.
That said, if we were going to dock points for anything, it'd be availability, as these patties are notoriously tough to find. Neither Walmart nor Target seem to carry them online.
