The Best Cooking Method To Get The Most Out Of Spaghetti Squash
By LAUREN CAHN
The best cooking method for spaghetti squash involves drawing out moisture while still encouraging the flesh to form spaghetti-like strands, which can be achieved with a few tricks.
You can prep the squash in just four steps. First, cut the squash in half horizontally, then scrape out the seeds, sprinkle salt on the flesh, and let the halves sit for 20-30 minutes.
Next, dab the halves with paper towels to remove moisture and brush them with oil before placing them on a cookie sheet face down and baking for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Flip one of the squash halves over and scrape the surface with a fork; if the flesh forms firm (not crunchy) strands, you’re done. If not, continue cooking in 5-minute intervals.
