The Best Cities In America For Beer Lovers In 2024
BY BRIAN UDALL
1. Asheville
Asheville, North Carolina has more breweries per capita than any other city in the country. While it hosts big beer brands, its heart and soul is its craft beer scene.
Along with the top-tier taprooms like Highland Brewing, you shouldn't miss out on great craft beer bars like The Whale, Foggy Mountain Brewpub, or Jackson County Ale Trail.
Pensacola, Florida has the most bars per capita in the United States. Locals and visitors alike can enjoy curated beer at spots like Goat Lips Chew and The Craft Bar.
You can also visit craft breweries like Odd Colony Brewery and McGuire's Irish Pub. Check out On Tap Brew Tours for a full beer experience of some of the best beers in the city.
The craft beer scene in Las Vegas, Nevada is surprisingly robust, thanks to the city's efforts to cultivate a beer community near the Arts District, called Brewery Row.
Las Vegas is home to community favorite tap rooms like Able Baker Brewing and Beer Zombies, as well as bars like BrewDog and Aces and Ales. The city also offers 15 beer tours.
Portland, Maine, is close to Asheville in the most breweries per capita, but the town's beer is slightly less affordable and has relatively fewer bars to enjoy a pint.
Among the city's great breweries are Portland's Allagash Brewing Co., a pioneer in craft brewing, family-owned Belleflower Brewing, and award-winning Bissell Brothers Brewing.
Close to Asheville, Greenville in South Carolina offers a fantastic beer scene. Though it has fewer breweries, the nearly two dozen contenders each pack a punch.
Among the city's notable breweries are Southern Grow, which is a clear local favorite, Fireforge Crafted Beer, which has a beautiful taproom, and Liability.
