Sumayah Kazi's
In the first episode of the latest series, 15, Sumayah Kazi presented a lifelike portrayal of her pet duck, Pato, for the hyper-realistic illusion cake challenge.
The cake was an orange sponge with layers of Swiss meringue buttercream with orange zest and balsamic strawberries. The burnt fondant resembled a tree bark.
This zesty lemon sponge cake with layers of lemon mascarpone cream had a real functioning handle, and Hazel impressively carried her cake just as she would a handbag.
In series 8's first episode, Yan used a pasta machine to construct noodles for her "Banana-ramen" illusion cake, showing amazing technical level and detail.
The base of the cake is bananas filled with mashed banana and topped with crispy rice, marshmallow fondant shaped into wok choi, carrots, chicken katsu, and soft-boiled ramen eggs.
In the same episode of series 8, Steven made Baker's Lunch illusion cake, a chocolate and hazelnut liquor sponge cake, which Paul Hollywood called "perfect."
Topped with peanut butter frosting, this cake resembled a fluffy bread loaf and a BLT sandwich. It also had a fondant egg and sliced tomato top on the cutting board.
In the same episode, Flo designed a cake to resemble watermelon, a key ingredient in her husband's favorite cocktail. The red sponge cake was soaked in melon syrup.
Flo filled it with layers of buttercream, which were studded with dark chocolate chips to resemble watermelon seeds. It was enrobed in green fondant to replicate the melon rind.
