The Ben & Jerry's Pints That Aren’t Actually Ice Cream
BY AUSTIN HAVENS-BOWEN
Some of Ben & Jerry’s pints aren't ice cream at all. If you prefer any of the iconic ice cream brand's non-dairy pints, enjoy -– but know that it's not technically ice cream.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture does not consider frozen dessert varieties that are made without dairy to be categorized as ice cream.
Ben & Jerry’s sells three types of non-dairy pints: Almond milk, oat milk, and sunflower butter. Some classic flavors, like Chocolate Fudge Brownie, are also available dairy-free.
For its products made with oat milk, some options include Strawberry Cheezcake with a graham cracker swirl, Americone Dream, plus a couple of its Core products like Bananas Foster.
Flavors like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter Half Baked, Phish Food, and the classic Cherry Garcia are made with almond milk.
Its sunflower butter flavors include Mint Chocolate Cookie and Oatmeal Dream Pie — which is also the one that's on top of our flavor ranking.
