The 4 Food Types Alton Brown Eats Every Day
By STEPHANIE FRIEDMAN
In 2014, Alton Brown went on Larry King Now to discuss the methods he used to help him lose 50 pounds, saying, “I actually made up this diet that was composed of four lists.” Brown’s lists were divided into foods he ate every day, three times a week, once a week, and not at all, and his “every day” foods are obviously the most nutritious.
Green vegetables are on the list, and are rich in vitamins and minerals such as fiber, iron, calcium, and vitamins A, C, E, and K. Nuts are also on the list, along with “something purple,” meaning blueberries, blackberries, or other foods with isoflavones, a compound that can reduce high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar.
Finally, Brown eats oats every day for their soluble fiber, which slows down digestion and may help lower the risk of heart disease. Brown also told Larry King which foods he banned himself from eating, and says that canned soups and processed fast foods didn’t make the cut, along with “No diet food of any type whatsoever.”
