The 2 Egg Dishes Ina Garten Loves To Cook For Dinner
By AUTUMN SWIERS
Celebrity chef Ina Garten wears many titles, one of which is the unofficial leader of the breakfast-for-dinner fan club. In her 13th cookbook “Go-To Dinners,” released in October of 2022, Garten dedicated an entire chapter to breakfast-for-dinner recipes, and highlighted two egg dishes in particular.
Garten's favorite egg dishes to make for dinner are eggs in purgatory and Gruyère omelets. Eggs in purgatory are poached or fried eggs in tomato sauce, often served with crusty bread or polenta, and Gruyère, a cow's milk cheese with a slightly sweet flavor, earthy aroma, and hard texture, makes for a delicious omelet.
On the NYC-based podcast “Cherry Bombe,” Garten stated that the omelets are, “the simplest thing once you get the hang of it [...] You get all of the ingredients already, and it's ready in five minutes.” Both of these dishes are filling and flavorful enough to transcend the breakfast table and be a dinnertime superhero.
