The 1930s Foghorn Drink Has The Makings Of A Moscow Mule
BY NIKITA EPHANOV
Similar to the Moscow Mule, a Foghorn cocktail includes gin mixed with ginger beer and lime juice, often served in a rocks glass. The traditional liquor base is old Tom gin.
While the Foghorn's origins are uncertain, some cite it was popularized by the influential Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. It first appeared in print in 1937.
Regardless of origin, it has a forgiving formula that beautifully showcases gin. The pungent citrus and ginger mixer soften out the gin's boozy flavor.
