Take Hot Chocolate Up A Level With Chai
BY MOLLY HARRIS
Chai-infused hot chocolate combines the warmth of hot chocolate with the aromatic spices of chai tea. The best part is, it’s surprisingly simple to make.
Start by brewing a strong cup of chai along with extra spices. You can steep it in water or plant-based milk, but traditional recipes use a mixture of whole milk and water.
You can use equal parts milk and water for a creamier drink, or two parts water to one part milk. Spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger will create a fragrant base.
Once your chai is ready, either stir in hot cocoa mix into the prepared chai tea or melt chocolate into the steeped milk. You could also just add powdered chai to hot chocolate.
Top your chai hot chocolate with whipped cream or chocolate curls. For an extra twist, sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon or cocoa powder over the cream.
