Sweeten Up Your Oatmeal With A Leftover Crumbly Addition
By STEPHANIE FRIEDMAN
Oatmeal provides a happy medium between dessert and a nutritious breakfast, and those of us with a sweet tooth who still want a filling meal should try this crunchy topping.
If you bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies that are too crunchy, simply crumble them up and throw them in a bowl of oatmeal to add a sweet, solid crunch to the soft porridge.
Adding a quarter cup of cookie crumbs for each half cup of oatmeal is a good rule of thumb. Whether you make instant or stovetop oats, add the cookie chunks right before serving.
You don’t have to use just chocolate chip cookies, either. Brand-name cookies like Oreos, Chips Ahoy, Biscoff, Nutter Butters, and Milanos all make for delicious results.
