Stanley Vs Yeti Tumblers: What's The Difference?
BY CLAIRE REDDEN
Stanley
Although founded over 100 years ago, Stanley tumblers found virality in 2020 when the company added new colorways, sizes, and designs to its portfolio.
Inventor William Stanley Jr. created the tumbler to keep his coffee hot by using vacuum insulation, and it later became a useful tool for WWII soldiers.
Yeti
By comparison, Yeti is much younger, founded in 2005 by outdoorsy brothers Roy and Ryan Seiders, but it has quickly built a reputation for high-end, quality products.
The company first created a popular Tundra cooler and used the same technology to create tumblers, like the Rambler, that resemble the Stanley Quencher.
Aesthetics
Of the two, the Stanley has more options, with over 40 colors including special limited editions, and five different sizes ranging from 14 ounces to 64 ounces.
The Rambler has just 20 colors and three different sizes from 25 to 42 ounces, but they offer new frequent color rollouts and have a sleeker, lighter design.
Design
The two tumblers look almost identical, with similar tapered designs, handles on the sides, and straws, but Yetis have a sleeker design that might sacrifice comfort for some.
Yeti Ramblers have slender handles that some may find uncomfortable to hold, while the Stanleys have a larger bulkier handle that’s more comfortable to hold.
Function
Although both have lids and straws, Stanleys are said to be more prone to leakage than the Yetis, even if the leakage is minimal and only when turned on its side.
Even though they come with a screw-on lid and a removable silicone liner that helps prevent leaks, the Stanleys still spill considerably more when knocked on their sides.
