Skillet Roasting Carrots Is The Simplest Way To Bring True Sweetness
BY ELIZABETH OKOSUN
Carrots are sweet snacks in their natural state, but when roasted, their sugars are coaxed out by the heat, giving them a richer sweetness. All you need to do this is a skillet.
In the oven, it may take up to 40 minutes to roast carrots. However, heating them in a skillet delivers the same crisp-tender results in less than half the time.
Additionally, you'll be able to watch them as they cook. To skillet roast carrots, rinse and dry them, then cut them crosswise and lengthwise so they can get a better sear.
Next, heat oil or butter in a skillet and add the carrots, flavoring with salt, pepper, and rosemary. Cook for about six minutes, flipping them now and then for even cooking.
The results will be crisp, browned carrots. For even more flavor, opt for smaller carrots that have lower starch levels and use butter as your cooking fat.
