Should You Store Ghee In The Refrigerator?
By HOPE NGO
Ghee or clarified butter is made by cooking heavy cream or sweet cream butter to separate the milk solids from the liquid, which is then cooked until golden-colored and nutty.
Ghee has a much longer shelf life than butter due to the milk solids being removed, and it's also meant to withstand extreme temperatures. However, it doesn't last forever.
Ghee is best stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. If you really want to extend its shelf life, it can be stored in the fridge, where it keeps for up to a year.
The one downside is that ghee turns from liquid to solid when cold, so be prepared to use a clean, dry spoon to scoop it out and then melt it down every time you need it.
Ghee is very vulnerable to oxidation and moisture, so try separating it into a smaller container that you'll open and use frequently and a larger one that holds the rest of it.
