Serve Up Large Cakes With Ease Using This Cutting Technique
BY JULIA HOLLAND
Cutting a large circular cake into triangular slices results in uneven slices that are too big. To avoid this, break the cake down by carving a smaller round cake in the center.
Put a bowl with a smaller diameter upside down over the cake's center. The lip of the bowl will leave an indentation in the icing that will serve as your guide for a circular cut.
Once you've cut the smaller circular cake inside the larger cake, you're left with a thick outer ring of cake that can be cut into short, thick, and proportional pieces.
