Save Money On Meat With One Easy Request For Your Butcher
BY KAREN HART
The butcher at your grocery store can be a valuable fountain of information on all things meat, but sometimes you have to use your own knowledge to save some money.
Think about what parts of the meat you'll actually use before buying it. You can ask the butcher to trim the fat for you or even remove or cut through bones if you don't need them.
Asking your butcher saves you the time and effort of having to do these tasks yourself, and it helps you save money, since nearly all butcher counters have you pay by weight.
If removing fat and bones doesn’t reduce the price enough for you, you can also ask the butcher for advice on less expensive meats that can be substituted for pricier ones.
