Saffron Butter Is The Simple Addition That Levels Up Pasta To New Heights

Although pricey, saffron is well worth the splurge. Just a tiny amount provides a warm, comforting flavor that can elevate simple dishes like buttered pasta.
This delicious recipe for saffron pasta comes together in less than half an hour. All you need is half a teaspoon of saffron, plus butter, heavy cream, wine, and cooked pasta.
Break down your saffron threads in a mortar and pestle before adding hot water to steep them. Let the spice steep for about ten minutes, until it turns a burnt orange color.
Next, heat butter in a pan and add equal parts saffron water and wine, along with heavy cream and salt to taste. Add the cooked pasta and cook until the sauce thickens.
Top with fresh herbs, salt and black pepper, or red pepper flakes. The resulting dish is delicious and healthy, as saffron may help to boost your mood and reduce oxidative stress.
