Sadly, You Can't Order James Bond's Original Favorite Martini
BY JEN PENG
James Bond’s favorite martini, the Vesper martini, was invented by Bond's creator, Ian Fleming. Including both gin and vodka, it first appeared in "Casino Royale" in 1953.
The original recipe uses Gordon's gin, vodka, and Kina Lillet. Unfortunately, Kina Lillet is no longer available, so you can't order the Vesper martini as it was originally served.
Lillet Blanc replaced Kina Lillet, which had been reformulated in 1985 to have less sugar and quinine. Additionally, Gordon's gin isn't as strong as it was in the 1950s.
