Remove Pesky Coffee Stains With A Single Pantry Staple
BY SIMONE GERBER
If you often have your coffee while half-asleep or rushing to work, you might have coffee stains on your clothes or countertops. Baking soda or white vinegar can get rid of them.
White vinegar easily dissolves coffee stains because vinegar and coffee are both acidic, and acidic liquids are great solvents for acid-based stains.
Baking soda works by oxidizing and lifting the stain. Baking soda is an alkaline substance, which is the opposite of acidic, so it reacts with acidic ingredients like coffee.
If you use baking soda, simply pour the powder over the surface of the stain until it is completely covered, wait at least a half hour, and then wash the stained item as usual.
With vinegar, mix one part vinegar with one part water, soak a rag or paper towel in it, dab it on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, and then wash the item as usual.
