Ranking Trader Joe's Dried Fruit From Worst To Best
BY Samantha Maxwell
15. Red Papaya
TJ’s dried Australian red papaya does carry a nice scent, but the pieces are too dry and hard to eat. Plus, its flavor isn't reflective of how tasty the fruit can be.
14. Green Mango
Although that unripe fruit flavor is present in TJ’s sweetened green mango, you won't taste the acidity of green mangos in it. Even with the added sugar, it's bland.
The product doesn't offer much beyond sweetness. While the sugar balances out the fruit’s flavor, it hides the acidity, making the item unappealing to folks who love sour flavors.
13. Pineapple
TJ's chile-spiced pineapple tastes like a pineapple exuding a sickly scent from sitting on the counter for days. The dried fruit is too sweet to mesh with the spice.
The chile seasoning on the chile-spiced dried pineapple is delicious on its own, but it doesn't seem to work when paired with that overripe fruit flavor.
12. Tart Cherries
The juiciness of fresh tart cherries is what makes their acidic tartness approachable. However, TJ's freeze-dried tart cherries are too tart and lack sweetness.
While their lack of added sweetness helps them from feeling more like candy than fruit, these tart cherries aren't the best freeze-dried fruit option the brand offers.
11. Raspberries
The texture of TJ's freeze-dried raspberries is good. That light crunch makes you want to reach for another handful, but their flavor could be better.
You won't taste much sweetness in these raspberries, and their tartness really hijacks your taste buds. The result is a dry, acidic snack that's less delicious than you may think.
