Ranking Frozen Chinese Food Meals From Worst To Best
BY Emily Hunt
15. Beef & Broccoli
While the rice has an ok texture, everything else about Tai Pei's Beef & Broccoli is a miss. The sauce lacked any umami and was more sweet than anything else.
The broccoli was hopelessly mushy. Worst of all was the beef, as it tasted entirely too fake and processed — with a mealy texture — to be considered actual beef.
14. Vegetable Lo Mein
InnovAsian Vegetable Lo Mein labels its noodles as "Chinese-style," but this simply isn't true. The noodles in this dish are definitely spaghetti.
The next biggest offender was its sauce, which didn't taste like lo mein sauce. It was way too sweet and bland, with a slightly chemical-esque flavor.
13. Sesame Chicken Bowl
Like the last dish, the lo mein noodles in Marie Callender's Sesame Chicken Bowl lacked any identifiable texture and weren't unappetizing.
Additionally, the frozen meal was bland. The chicken didn't taste like anything, and the sauce in this dish had more of a liquid consistency, making it hard to stick to the meal.
12. Sweet & Sour Chicken
The sauce of Tai Pei's Sweet & Sour Chicken was actually pretty good, and the pineapple pieces added a welcome bright element to the dish.
Unfortunately, the chicken was too light and spongey to taste like real chicken, there was a lack of vegetables, and the textures of the meal were all off.
11. MC's Sweet & Sour Chicken
Marie Callender's Sweet & Sour Chicken scored higher than the previous dish as all its elements were easily distinguishable from one another.
However, its flavor was still lacking. While the rice and chicken were decent, the vegetables were too mushy, and the sauce didn't have the tang that a good sauce should have.
