Non-Members Can Purchase Liquor At Costco In 14 States
BY JESSIE MOLLOY
Even without a Costco membership, some shoppers in certain US states can visit the warehouse grocery chain to purchase alcohol in bulk for a great price.
These states include Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Texas, and Vermont.
KENS5 News explains that in Texas, club stores like Costco have been granted public liquor licenses, making it against the law to require private membership to purchase alcohol.
Other state laws vary widely. For example, Vermont insists that club stores sell spirits like vodka to members only, so non-members can only buy wine and beer.
You also can’t just walk in the stores and will need to be given a temporary number to purchase alcohol. You will only be allowed to purchase alcohol and not any grocery items.
