Never Order These Drinks At Dunkin'
BY Hunter Wren Miele
Mango Pineapple
Mango Pineapple Refresher is a fruity drink made with caffeinated green tea, but Dunkin' fails to nail the required flavor balance between these tropical favorites.
Pineapple completely overshadows mango in this Refresher, with no mellow mango to help tame the pineapple's aggressive tartness. Plus, pineapple essence tastes far from fresh.
Cappuccino
The standard Cappuccino at Dunkin' contains espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam, but the chain's extra focus on foam pushes this beverage into undesirable territory.
The foam tends to dissipate rapidly, forcing you to scarf down your coffee. If you wait for it to cool down, you'll be left with a slightly milky espresso without any foam.
Caramel Swirl
Frozen chocolate drinks at Dunkin' are non-caffeinated drinks available with your choice of add-ins like, caramel. However, the drink isn't as appealing as it sounds.
Caramel is almost undetectable, masked by the rich chocolate. The added swirl only makes the drink too sugary, leaving you with a too-sweet and watered-down chocolate milk.
Hazelnut Coffee
Hazelnut coffee at Dunkin' doesn't come close to entering the realm of high-quality flavored coffees, using a fake hazelnut additive in its pre-ground coffee.
Real hazelnut is nutty and ultra buttery, seamlessly blending into a naturally acidic and sweet coffee. Artificially-flavored hazelnuts lack these and are typically too bitter.
Blue Raspberry
Dunkin' seems to be going for a Slurpee-like drink with its blue raspberry Coolatta, but it feels like the drink never should have been attempted in the first place.
Not only is the syrup excessively sugary, but it also has a medicine-like aftertaste — one that makes going in for a second sip nearly impossible.
