Most Of The World's Bananas Come From This Country

Did you know that around 116,781,658 tons of bananas are consumed worldwide each year? That’s A LOT of bananas. With an average annual consumption of 90 bananas, or around 27 pounds per person, which country is producing all these bananas for the world?
With an average annual production and consumption of 30,460,000 tonnes, India is the world's largest banana producer and consumer. Although there are more than a thousand other types of bananas in the globe, the Cavendish variety is the most extensively grown and consumed.
China, Indonesia, and Brazil are the next three countries in the world in terms of banana production after India. Although India, China, Indonesia, and Brazil grow more bananas than Ecuador, the small South American country remains the world's largest exporter of bananas.
