Milk Powder Is The Secret Ingredient To Boost Chocolate Chip Cookies
BY JULIA HOLLAND
Milk powder is an underrated ingredient that can enhance many different desserts. It can even improve simple chocolate chip cookies by adding a deeper, more caramelized flavor.
Celebrity baker Matt Adlard told fans on his Instagram that the key is to toast the milk powder first. It adds a rich, nutty caramel flavor to the batter without any excess liquid.
To toast milk powder, pour the powder into an even layer in a baking pan and toast it in the oven until it turns golden brown. After cooling, you can mix it into your batter.
You can even use the powder in conjunction with brown butter for the ultimate rich, caramelized flavor. The resulting delicious chocolate chip cookies are a cut above the rest.
