Marinated Tomato Sauce Is A Fresh And Flavorful Spin On A Classic
BY EMMY SCHNEIDER-GREEN
A well-made tomato sauce can elevate an otherwise run-of-the-mill dish into something spectacular. For an even more vibrant flavor, try a marinated version of tomato sauce.
Unlike traditional tomato sauce, marinated tomato sauce isn't cooked on the stove. Instead, the ingredients are combined and marinated in their own juices to form a cohesive sauce.
Start by combining peeled and diced tomatoes with garlic, torn basil, salt, pepper, and any other ingredients you please. Let the mixture sit for at least an hour in the fridge.
The individual flavors will meld into one another to form a vibrant sauce, which will have a chunky texture more akin to salsa than a traditional thin tomato sauce.
The fresh flavors of this no-cook sauce are amazing with bruschetta, homemade pizza, spooned over veggies, as a marinade for meat, or used to sauce a traditional pasta dish.
