Make Quiche Instantly Fancier With One Canned Ingredient
BY Stephanie Friedman
Despite being easy to make, quiche is tasty and aesthetically pleasing. However, you can easily upgrade it into something even fancier by simply adding canned salmon.
It's light and delicate, pairs beautifully with eggs and vegetables, and doesn't need to be cooked from scratch, making it a perfect way of adding protein and flavors to a quiche.
If your canned salmon comes with the bones still in and the skin still on, first remove them. For even more salmon flavor, stir the can's liquid into your whisked eggs later on.
Then, stir the canned food into your filling mixture alongside ingredients like eggs, vegetables, and milk, which will get poured into your pie crust before going into the oven.
Alternatively, arrange your salmon as the first layer in the pie crust, before veggies and eggs — or sprinkle it on as one of the last steps, right before a final layer of cheese.
You can use as little as 6 ounces or as much as 14 ounces of salmon, depending on how much flavor you want. Keep the fish as the quiche’s only protein for the best experience.
