Keep Freezer Burn Away From Bagged Food With A Straw Hack
BY Sylvia Tomczak
Freezer burn is caused by cold air exposure and a lack of moisture. However, storing foods in tightly sealed containers or bags that are virtually oxygen-free can limit damage.
When it comes to filled freezer bags, a vacuum sealer can help draw excess air out of them, but using a straw for the job is easier, more economical, and just as effective.
Before sealing a filled bag, leave a bit of space to insert a straw. Then, inhale multiple times to suck the air out, remove the straw, and seal the bag tightly before freezing it.
