In an interview with chef Mashama Bailey, Harris revealed that every year for a holiday party, she would be asked to make so many greens that she washed them in the bathtub.
Harris then revealed her secrets, saying she prefers to add bacon rather than turkey or smoked ham. She starts with chopped bacon, garlic, chili peppers, water, and chicken stock.
Once the flavors have combined, Harris explained, “I put the greens in for a couple of hours, then I do vinegar, and then I cheat and do a little Tabasco" to finish it off.
