Japanese-Style Iced Coffee Offers A Bolder And More Balanced Sip
BY CLAIRE REDDEN
Like how cold brew differs from iced coffee in the sense that it's brewed in cold water, Japanese-style iced coffee goes a step further by brewing the coffee over literal ice.
The result is an iced coffee drink that's even sweeter and more aromatic. To make it, grind up your beans and heat up some water, replacing half the amount of water with ice.
Put the ice cubes inside your cup, then pour hot water over the grounds. This way, the coffee gets a hearty flavor from the hot water that's instantly counteracted by the ice.
The Japanese iced coffee method is special in that it delivers the flavor subtleties and aromas of hot coffee in an iced form that the cold brew method simply can't replicate.
