When we were children, grocery shopping might have felt exciting, but as adults, shopping can be a real chore, especially when the supermarket is pretty much always packed to the gills. However, there is a way to see how crowded your local store is before you head out, plus a general guideline for the best time of day to shop.

Shoppers can use Google Maps to avoid rush hour at the supermarket. Just look up your local store using the search bar and Maps can tell you how busy the store is at any time on any day, and according to general data collected by the app, the least busy time of the week to grocery shop is 8 a.m. on Mondays.

If grocery shopping at 8 a.m. is too early for you, just make sure you don't go to the store at the busiest time of week, which is 12-3 p.m. on Saturdays. Both of these time windows are average estimates, and you should still use Google Maps to see if your store follows these guidelines, or if foot traffic there is completely different.
