Is Bourbon Gluten-Free?
BY BRIAN UDALL
Whiskey is almost universally considered gluten-free despite being made from glutinous grains like rye, barley, and whiskey thanks to the process of distillation.
Distillation is the process whereby a liquid is purified through evaporation and condensation. In the case of bourbon, the gluten does not evaporate and is left behind.
Depending on your gluten intolerance's severity, exhibit caution since unintentional cross-contamination is theoretically possible, but that's a whole different issue.
