Ina Garten's Top Tip For Making A Beautiful Caprese Salad

A delightful Caprese salad made with fresh tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella is perfect for any occasion. Ina Garten has shared a tip to boost your salad’s presentation.
Garten suggests using tomato slices that are the same diameter as your slices of fresh mozzarella. Buy a round log of cheese and try slicing it and the tomatoes to a ½ inch thick.
Having your tomatoes and mozzarella in near-identical slices will make your salad look neat and appealing. Make this salad in the summer and opt for fresh, flavorful, locally-grown tomatoes.
You can even use different colors of heirloom tomatoes. Also, use the highest-quality mozzarella and choose smaller basil leaves for a sweeter, more peppery flavor.
Lastly, to stop your mozzarella from releasing excess liquid and watering down your salad, store it at room temperature and pat each slice dry with paper towels.
