Ina Garten's Time Management Tip For Cake Making
BY LUNA REGINA
To avoid the frenzy that comes with last-minute cake-making, take a tip from Ina Garten and prepare things ahead of time by baking the cake (without icing) a few days before.
Garten further proposes you remove the cakes from the refrigerator on the day you plan to serve them. This allows you to focus on other things, like making the frosting.
Frozen cakes would need about an hour sitting on the countertop before they're ready to ice, while those pulled from the fridge may take 30 minutes to come to room temperature.
This works because almost any cake will freeze well, particularly those with a high moisture and fat content. Remember that cakes with a delicate crumb are less freezer-friendly.
