Ina Garten's Had The Same Breakfast Every Day For 10 Years
By MOLLY HARRIS
While beloved chef and author Ina Garten has plenty of recipes for the most extravagant of brunches, the Barefoot Contessa has actually practiced the same simple breakfast routine for the past 10 years. Contrary to our idea of a pro chef, she even relies on the microwave to make her breakfast every morning.
Garten has enjoyed a breakfast of McCann's quick-cooking Irish oatmeal — heated up in the microwave — with a cup of coffee for a decade now. Full of nourishing fiber and protein, as well as other nutrients, oatmeal is a great choice for breakfast that helps to keep you full and satisfied throughout the morning.
Irish oatmeal, more well-known as steel-cut oats, is a less processed form of oats that retains more nutritional value, and quick-cooking oatmeal can be made in just a few minutes. Garten also says that she likes to add plenty of salt to enhance the flavor of the oats and prevent them from tasting like "wallpaper paste."
