Ina Garten's Fig-Centered Appetizer That Tastes More Complex Than It Is

Ina Garten is the queen of creating quick recipes to delight dinner guests, and her easy but delicious Fig and Cheese Toasts are greater than the sum of their parts.
The combination of figs and cheese makes for an effortlessly fancy dish, with a well-balanced profile from the fruity sweetness of the fig and the savory creaminess of the cheese.
Garten also adds a tangy hit of balsamic vinegar and a topping of microgreens, salt, and pepper. It's a posh-looking and -tasting appetizer that's secretly super simple.
To make Garten's recipe, you’ll need fig spread, a few fresh figs, a creamy cheese, kosher salt, black pepper, microgreens, and balsamic vinegar.
Once you've cut and toasted your bread, add a layer of the fig spread to one side, then microwave the cheese in a bowl for about 30 to 45 seconds, or until soft.
Add dollops of cheese in the middle of the toasts, sprinkle on salt and pepper, and add two thin slices of fig. Finish with the greens and vinegar for an effortlessly elegant dish.
