Ina Garten Says Her Boozy Thanksgiving Pie Is Better With Store-Bought Crust
Any seasoned Thanksgiving host knows preparing the traditional holiday feast every year is no small undertaking. Food Network chef Ina Garten champions make-ahead dishes and premade ingredients from the store as the best ways to save yourself some stress, and she even prepares her festive holiday pie with a store-bought crust.
The Barefoot Contessa uses store-bought crust for her Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie because premade crusts are usually less buttery than homemade ones, which balances out the decadent filling in this dessert. Making this dessert takes no more than an hour, and the only pieces of equipment needed are two mixing bowls and a spoon.
Garten's recipe instructs to combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, salt, two eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and bourbon, then add chocolate chips and chopped pecans, add the filling to your store-bought crust, and pop in the oven to bake. This dessert is quite literally easy as pie and lets you get away with a time-saving shortcut.
