Ina Garten Always Bakes 2 Strawberry Cakes At A Time

Celebrity chef Ina Garten always offers fans kitchen tips and tricks to get spectacular returns for not too much effort. Her Country Cake with Strawberries and Whipped Cream recipe is not only delicious and made of ingredients you probably have in your kitchen, but can produce two cakes instead of just one for surefire dessert success.
Since making a cake takes a while, Garten feels that you may as well mix up enough batter to make two cakes in the time it takes to make one. Her strawberry cake recipe makes two eight-inch cakes, and one or both of the cakes can be frozen for up to a month, even if they're already frosted with whipped cream topping.
Before putting a cake in the freezer for long-term storage, keep it in the fridge or freezer for an hour or two to let the frosting firm up, then wrap it in plastic wrap as tightly as possible and freeze. Also, when following Garten's recipe, make sure to let the butter, sour cream, and eggs come to room temperature before using them.
