If You Sprinkle Salt On The Top Of Cookies, Try Doing The Opposite
BY MICHELLE WELSCH
Sprinkling flaky salt on top of your cookies can help them taste even sweeter and enhances their flavor, but salting the bottom of your next batch also has its benefits.
The salt crystals on top of cookies fall off easily when you take a bite. Salting the bottoms bakes the salt right in, and the slight saltiness is the first thing that hits your tongue.
Larger, crunchier sea salt or finer kosher salt both work for this trick. Just form your cookie dough balls, lightly press the bottom of each one into a pile of salt, and bake.
Your cookies will be transformed into delicious treats with a balance of flavors. Just as it does with other foods, the salt will enhance every tasting note in your cookies.
