How To Simplify Peanut Sauce Down To 3 Ingredients
BY KAT LIEU
You can easily simplify peanut sauce down to three core ingredients: peanut butter, a flavorful sauce, and an acid like vinegar or lime juice.
Dilute ¼ cup of peanut butter with ½ cup of water, which can be creamy or chunky until it reaches your desired thickness and consistency.
Add lemon juice, lime juice, or vinegar as the acid, depending on the flavor you want. This can all be done in a small saucepan on the stovetop over low heat.
Season the sauce with some hoisin sauce or soy sauce, adjusted to your taste, and mix
in about 1 to 2 tablespoons of spicy heat, like sriracha, chili sauce, or chili crisp.
Once mixed thoroughly, the peanut sauce is ready. Aromatics like minced garlic or ginger can bring other flavors to the sauce, while flavored vinegars bring additional acidity.
