How To Roast Canned Corn For Maximum Flavor
BY KAT LIEU
To greatly enhance the flavor of corn, try roasting it. To do so, drain a can of corn and then heat olive oil or butter in a pan over medium heat.
Once the oil or butter is warm, add the drained corn kernels and roast the corn for about 10 minutes. Stir the corn occasionally to ensure even cooking and prevent burning.
Once the kernels take on a golden hue, continue roasting until it’s golden brown, which takes about another 5 to 7 minutes. You can also add aromatics while the corn is cooking.
The final touch for the roasted corn is your seasoning. A combination of butter, soy sauce, monosodium glutamate, and yuzu or lemon juice is one of many great options.
A sprinkle of parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast will be perfect for a cheesy finish. Give the dish a pop of color with chives or scallions and a dusting of paprika.
Roasted corn can adapt effortlessly to various meals. Whether it’s a vibrant addition to a barbecue plate or a starring role in an informal dinner, it’s sure to be delicious.
